General Hand - Trainee Press Brake Operator

The General Hand / Trainee Press Brake Operator will work in the Cutting and Press Brake area, working closely with the Press Brake Operators to learn how to set up and operate the Press Brake machines. 

The General Hand / Trainee Press Brake Operator may at times be required to assist with other production operations, to suit business needs.

Job Role:      

  • Learn how to set up and operate the Press Brake machines, ensuring the machines run continuously to maximum productivity.
  • Ensure all products are folded to drawing.
  • Ensure all products are folded to standard quality requirements.
  • Operate press room equipment, including tapping, rolling, hare press and haeger press.
  • Ensure all tasks are completed within standard time.
  • Ensure daily and weekly equipment checks are completed.
  • Report any faults and discuss improvement opportunities with the Team Supervisor.
  • Ensure adequate housekeeping within your own work area.
  • Ensure Personal Protective Equipment is used as directed, maintained and stored correctly.
  • Ensure all Company Health and Safety Procedures and Safe Systems of Working are followed. 
  • Ensure all Company Quality Standards are maintained. 
  • Ensure compliance to all Company Rules and Regulations. 
  • Any other reasonable task as directed by your Line Manager. 


Salary: £19,095 - £21,175 per annum (equivalent to £9.18 - £10.18 per hour), depending on experience.

Hours of work:

40 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, 7.30am until 4.30pm (8.5 hours per day) and Friday, 7.30am until 1.30pm (6 hours).


21 days annual leave, plus 8 Bank Holidays, increasing by 1 day at 2 years' service, another day at 4 years' service, to a maximum of 24 days at 6 years' service.
